FAQ

How will I know when it is truly the right time?

Short answer: When your pet’s good moments are fewer, shorter, or harder to reach, it may be time to consider a compassionate goodbye.
More detail: We recommend reflecting on your pet’s comfort, appetite, breathing, mobility, and joy. If you want, we can help you talk through what you’re seeing.

Will my pet feel any pain during the procedure?

Short answer: Our goal is comfort first. Sedation helps your pet relax before the final step.
More detail: We move at a compassionate pace, explain what you may notice, and adjust based on your pet’s needs.

Can I stay with them the whole time?

Short answer: Yes.
More detail: You can be with your pet from arrival through the final moments or not. Completely your preference.

Can my other pets be in the room when it happens?

Short answer: Often, yes.
More detail: Some pets settle better with familiar animals nearby. Others do better with a quiet space. We can advise based on your home and your pets’ needs.

What do I need to do to prepare my home?

Short answer: Choose a comfortable spot and keep things quiet.
More detail: We’ll bring what we need. A favorite blanket or bed helps. If you have children, we can help you think through the setting.

What happens to my pet’s body afterward?

Short answer: We handle everything respectfully based on your choice.
More detail: We’ll explain the process clearly before we proceed, and confirm your preference.

Do I need authorization from my family veterinarian?

Short answer: No. A licensed veterinarian attends every Comfort of Home appointment, so prior authorization is not required.
More detail: Because every Comfort of Home visit is conducted by a licensed veterinarian, we do not need approval from your primary or family vet. This allows us to provide timely, in-home care without added delays—especially during evenings or weekends, when obtaining authorization can be difficult. Our goal is to remove unnecessary barriers and make this experience as smooth and supported as possible for your family.

How long does the entire process take?

Short answer: Most visits take about 30-45 minutes.
More detail: We do not rush. Timing depends on your questions, your pet’s needs, and your family’s pace.

My pet is very anxious or aggressive at the vet. Will this be a problem?

Short answer: Not usually. Being at home often helps.
More detail: Tell us what you’ve experienced. We’ll plan the calmest approach.

Should my children be present?

Short answer: It depends on your child and your family’s values.
More detail: We can share age-appropriate ways to explain what’s happening and help you choose what feels right.

What if I schedule the appointment and then they have a “good day”?

Short answer: That’s common. A good day doesn’t erase the bigger pattern.
More detail: We can help you think through the trend you’ve been seeing, not just the day you’re in.

When are ashes available?

Short answer: Ashes are available within 1-3 business days.
More Detail: Pick up locations are Goshen, Loveland or Fairfield

Do you serve areas outside your listed communities?

Short answer: Sometimes.
More detail: Travel fees vary by location and must be discussed before booking. Please text us and we’ll confirm availability and fees.
