Prepare Your Home

How to prepare your home

You don’t need to prepare perfectly. This checklist is here to help the appointment feel calm, simple, and unrushed.

1

Choose a comfortable spot

Pick a place where your pet already feels safe. Many families choose a favorite bed, a blanket on the floor, or a quiet room.

  • A familiar bed or blanket
  • Soft lighting, if possible
  • A quiet space with minimal interruptions

Small note: We can adjust to your home. Don’t overthink it.

2

Decide who will be present

Some families want a private moment. Others want everyone close. There is no universal “right” answer.

  • If you want privacy, choose a smaller room and limit visitors
  • If your family is present, consider who will hold your pet and who will help with practical needs
  • If you have questions about what children should see, we can help you think it through

3

Consider other pets

Other pets can sometimes be present and calm. In other situations, it’s better to keep them in a separate room.

Recommendation: If you’re unsure, start with other pets in another space. We can reassess when we arrive.

4

Comfort details that help

The goal is a peaceful environment.

  • Keep the home quiet if possible
  • Have tissues and water nearby for your family
  • If your pet enjoys a special treat, you may offer it. Nothing is off limits- now is the time for that taste of chocolate or a big steak
  • If your pet is anxious, let us know during booking so we can plan
